Megan Lochte Apologizes For "Racist" 2008 Video

Her brother Ryan Lochte is now one of the most recognized athletes, but now Megan Lochte is the latest member of the family to face the public eye.

Earlier this week, a video surfaced of the comedian from a TV appearance back from 2008, where she used a racial slur multiple times throughout the video causing quite an uproar.

In the clip, the Olympic gold-medalist's sister is describing her experience in China after the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In light of the negative attention, Megan released a statement, which read, “This was not a real interview, and it in no way reflects my true feelings or persona whatsoever. The intent was to make fun of the ignorance of people who actually do not have an understanding of other cultures and speak in racist ways.”

Apologizing for the ill feelings brought on from the comments, Lochte continued, “I do see how it was highly offensive to the viewer, but as seen by today’s widespread outrage, it clearly did increase awareness of the ignorance of those who are racist. I want to reiterate that this was NOT a real talk show, and I was not expressing my personal views. While the intent of the script was to shed light on cultural ignorance, I realize that in application it did offend people, and for that I apologize.”
