English recording artist/ singer-songwriter Lily Allen is, as we previously reported, already at work in the studio, working on tunes with producer Greg Kurstin after a three year hiatus following her 2009 album, It’s Not Me, It’s You. But, if that music is ever released it won’t be under the name Lily Allen—the singer has changed her professional name.
So say goodbye to Lily Allen; say hello to Lily Rose Cooper. That’s right, she’s made a very slight adjustment to Lily Rose Cooper.
No reasoning was given for the name change, or whether or not is has some kind of thematic ties to the new music she is making.
Allen is currently in the studio, “throwing s*** at the wall and seeing if anything sticks.” It’s been three years since her last album (also produced by Kurstin), at which time Allen announced a hiatus from the music industry. During that time she has given birth to her first child, opened a fashion rental shop with her sister, and launched a new record label, In The Name Of. The first band signed to In The Name Of was Brooklyn hotshots Cults.
What do you think of the name change?
