One of the most popular dance pros on the reality TV competition ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ Maksim Chmerkovskiy, is hanging up his dancing shoes after his contract expires at the end of next year. So take a deep break: Maks WILL re-team with Kirstie Alley for the upcoming season of ‘Dancing with the Stars: All Stars’ edition. Maksim explained his decision to the New York Post:
“What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons? It makes total sense. The audience can’t expect for me to want to stick around, and the producers can’t expect for me to want to stick around.
“Essentially, 80% of our job is to give somebody another push in their career. Or we make them into likable characters. But at the end of the day, they go off and they better themselves. I loved doing it. But to be honest with you, at 32, I am at what-about-me time.’
“I am not thinking that with me leaving, the show will go off the air or anything. Like my dad said, ‘There are no irreplacable people.’ I wish them the next 50 years of success. But I have to do something else. I need to move on for me.“
But this doesn’t mean Maks is going to disappear. He’s following in ‘DWTS’ alum’s Julianne Hough’s footsteps and making the transition to the big screen. Maksim has already secured the lead in a major studio movie, according to the Post.
“I never thought I was ready [to act]. Then I had a whole day of reading with the director and casting director, and I enjoyed it so much! I caught the bug, as they say. This is something I really want to do.
“The [female lead] is faced with the choice between somebody really attractive and appealing and somebody who looks like a lifelong partner. Who she chooses, you will have to watch the movie. But I like that I get to portray somebody that I would not like for my daughter.”
It’s a romantic comedy. I wonder if Maksim will get to finally win that silver ball before leaving ‘Dancing with the Stars’?

Liev Schreiber picked up Kai from school in New York City on Friday (September 28). The pair walked hand-in-hand through the wet city streets. Sasha, 5, wasn’t with them.
Perhaps later that night the boys would enjoy cake to help celebrate mom Naomi Watts’ 44th birthday.
Liev taking time to be with his family is a nice break considering he’ll have to go into full gear to promote his upcoming films The Reluctant Fundamentalist and The Butler.

Even though the gorgeous gals were among the night’s highlights, they weren’t the only ones who ruled the carpet!

Although she may have left her New York love behind, songstress turned actress Ashlee Simpson was all smiles when she arrived at LAX yesterday afternoon. The blonde mommy-of-one to Bronx, was recently spotted in NYC on the arm of Boardwalk Empire star Vincent Piazza, but touched down at the airport solo.
After breaking things off from ex-husband Pete Wentz, Ashlee is tangling herself in a web of a potential summer romance, while Pete is doing his best to move on as well. I guess any hopes of a reconciliation between these two are off for good!
