Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix Holograms Are In The Works

Last week it was reported that an Elvis hologram was in the works. Now, Billboard is reporting that music legends Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix may also stage holographic live performances. Even from the grave, Tupac Shakur is still a trendsetter.

Jeff Jampol, who manages both of the deceased artists estates, told Billboard that at this point they are trying to get 3-D characters to just walk around. He said he hopes that one day Jim Morrison will be able to “walk right up to you, look you in the eye, sing right at you and then turn around and walk away.” That sounds pretty scary to us.

Jampol also handles the estates for legends like Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Peter Tosh and Rick James. He also suggested that the 3D hologram experience is part of a new multimedia concert. Still, it’ll probably be a long time before Jim Morrison can actually wink at you.

Just last week it was announced that the King of Rock and Roll would virtually be returning to the stage, but according to Digital Domain CEO John Testor, the Elvis hologram is still in very early stages.

Janie Hendrix, sister and President/CEO of Experience Hendrix, revealed that she’s been working for a year with the London-based Musion Systems to develop a virtual Jimi Hendrix.

No date has been set for said concerts, but we suspect it’ll take some time before we’re able to buy a ticket.

What do you think? Would you pay to see a hologram of Jim Morrison or Jimi Hendrix in concert?
