A few weeks ago we heard the rumors that newly engaged Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were planning a summer wedding in the south of France. Well, those rumors have turned out to be just that. Brad surfaced this week in France at the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival and unveiled at the press conference for Killing Them Softly that he and his fiancé, Angelina definitely have not set a date for the impending nuptials. They are also still waiting before they tie the knot for the arrival of marriage equality, as they have said for years.
When Brangelina got engaged most people, myself included, believed that they would have an extended engagement period and would not rush to get wed. The south of France wedding rumors never really sounded right; it just didn’t make sense that the couple that chose not to wed for so many years would rush now to get married. Nevertheless, the rumor mill was bound to start chugging as soon as news of the Pitt-Jolie engagement surfaced, and it did. Brad has now set the record straight though.
“We actually, really and truly, have no date…It’s just something that makes sense to us, and certainly date-wise, it’s just a rumor,” he continued. “We’re still hoping that we can figure out marriage equality in the states before that date.”
So, it sounds like not only have they not set a date yet for the big nuptials but they might be waiting until marriage equality arrives across the board in the United States. This was one of the big reasons that Brad and Ange gave for not getting engaged, and it seems it still is one of their major values as a couple. This doesn’t mean that they won’t get married some time soon, and of course they could decide to hold the wedding before marriage equality arrives nationally, but in the mean time it looks like there isn’t a date set for the Pitt-Jolie wedding unfortunately.
