Watch: Kanye West Releases A Music Video For ‘Mercy’

It’s here! Kanye, Big Sean, Pusha T, and 2Chainz have debuted the video for their song Mercy, previously titled Lamborghini, Murci. Veteran director Nabil put in work on this one; he’s the director responsible for Kanye & Rihanna‘s Paranoid video, as well as Frank Ocean‘s Novacane. The all black and white video is visually striking, and– with little action really going down– the thrill of it may lie in the small details.

Kanye’s label and group GOOD (Getting Out Our Dreams) Music is releasing their first compilation album which will include songs from the myriad artists signed to the label. Mercy is their first single from the forthcoming album, Cruel Summer (which is also the title of the short film Kanye premiered at the Cannes Film Festival).

My favorite part of the song is the hook (which Kanye sampled, genius that he is), and it’s one that  only my patois-speaking friends will understand. For the rest of us, here’s what Fuzzy Jones is saying:

“Well! It is a weeping and a moaning and a gnashing of teeth
It is a weeping and a mourning and a gnashing of teeth
When it comes to my sound which is the champion sound, believe!”

What’d you guys think of the video? At first I thought that it wasn’t all that Cray. But the more I watch it, the more I like those sexy slow-moving panoramic shots– we saw the director do this in Frank Ocean‘s video (see gallery below) and it was powerful. I will also watch anything with Pusha T‘s face in it; two Pusha T‘s, like, rapping to me at once? Yespleasemorethankyou. And then there’s Kid Cudi (in the video but not on the track) dancing like a guy who used to live in Cleveland but moved to Brooklyn. LOVE.

I stumbled across this picture from Kanye‘s film; I’m thinking this might have been the inspiration for some of the fashion in Mercy.

Kanye‘s so friggen talented. It’s the worst.
