If you found yourself walking down the street today, and happened to notice windows, buildings, cars, streets and people all started to explode and cave in on themselves like that scene early in Inception when Juno realizes DiCaprio has pulled her into a dream, don’t fret. It totally makes sense. Ditto if you happened to see winged dragons vomiting blood from the skies while gorgons crawl from the sewers and begin nibbling on your feet and neighborhood cats being making friends with dogs. You see, Billy Ray Cyrus is making his Broadway debut in Chicago.
That’s right—reality has basically decided to take the rest of the year off, as the man behind such pop culture atrocities as “Achy Breaky Heart” and Miley Cyrus is taking some time off from his Nashville-based career and hit Broadway. Cyrus will be playing the role of Chicago’s criminal lawyer Billy Flynn. Cyrus’ seven week engagement is set to launch on November 5th.
Despite being a part of one of the worst songs of the 1990s, Cyrus has more recently made a name for himself by starring with his daughter Miley in the hit television show Hannah Montana. He also made his mark in made for TV movies on Lifetime and the Hallmark Channel—and if starring in made for TV movies on Lifetime and the Hallmark doesn’t prepare you for starring on Broadway, nothing will, right?
